Soon, our neighbor’s 200 year old copper beech will leaf out, and the light will be dappled and less intense (and that’s nice too).
With the poppy pillow commission finished, I can finally get back to my big-big quilt.
Recycled shirts and tiny pieces of Most Favored Fabrics (like a trading status!) are turning into huts and villages, here and there.
I took so much time to piece these big sections, that it would be a shame if I hid all the evidence of that work (i.e., the SEAMS), but that is the temptation right now…
That blue spade fabric (a roof of rain?) is cotton that K. brought back from India last month. It was hard to cut, because it was such soft cotton, but cut I did. It is one of many fabrics that translates into “RAIN” in this piece.
ha! there is that dot fabric again….
What a great shot of your family room, it looks like a cozy place for a good book or nap. You are a brave woman taking a kitchen shot …if I did one of mine you would see three big tabbies looking back at you, I forgot not everyone keeps cats on counters LOL.
The quilt is beautiful. I love the home motif that runs throughout your work, home… village…universe and back to home again. Each a journey.
yes, Jude, I didn’t give ALL of it away!
and Ginny, you notice I say “dinner clutter” as if to say it was associated with dinner and not, as it is in fact, there in various states of density ALL THE TIME?!! I draw the line at cats on the counter though… YOU PIG!@!! *just kidding.
With a Corgi, it doesn’t really help to have pet-free counters anyway. At the rate they shed, there is no dog-hair-free zone in our house, ever, anywhere.
And, thanks about the quilt… the house motif is one that doesn’t seem to want to quit.
I know what you mean about corgies, small shedding hairballs.
Hey don’t think I haven’t heard that counter comment or the like about the eye-level kitties before…my mother-in-law’s eyes pop out like six inches when she enters my house. Funny every time. My surfaces are probably more sanitary than most because I know I have to use the windex before anything happens there. My Big Fat Greek Wedding windex scenes had me saying “there ya go, I’m not the only one with a windex fix”.
Enjoy your Friday, find some time to sit and enjoy the sun.
You have such a cozy home! And now I am seeing little houses everywhere, in your header, on your kitchen countertop, in your quilt. Home sweet home! xo Kari
I love all the different colours and fabrics you have used in your quilt.
I do like your chair, is it vintage?

Ginny — I am so cavalier about hair in food that I sts. think I’ve departed from the human race (ditto on grain moths). I mean, really, what happens when you ingest a dog hair? But readers who might eat in my home, note — I am SCRUPULOUS about raw meats — those knives, cutting boards and even the towels I dry my gooey fingers on while butchering — go straight to cleaning!
Kari — thank you! It IS a cozy home even if it is cluttered. Every chair has a good reading lamp and most have a quilt to curl up under. Important items, don’t you think?
Hello michala. thanks for looking and commenting on the quilt — the chair is one of the few pieces that we have purchased new… it comes from Boston Interiors and is called a “Bali Chair”
