After a touring colleges in two cities, flying through two additional cities because of missed connecting flights. After watching hour after mind-numbing hour of CNN. After learning that our bags were elsewhere. We were happy to drive home to Newton. Even if the shit was still hitting the fan one town over. Even if our town was under a ‘shelter-in-place’ order. Even if the house reeked of dog when we walked in. Even if the news continues to startle and shock. We are home.
Glad you are home, safe and sound!!
Dee, I’ve been thinking of you and other people I know in the Boston area. There are no words, not yet anyway. Take care. xo
Glad you are safe. I’m in NH so I’m not that far from you. Things have changed so quickly this week!
Thanks, Minka. NH is not far at all. We all feel the fear. Given how close we are here in Newton to Newtown (one letter one state away), though, I can tell you there is a world of difference in being near and having the violence unfold on your stomping ground.
I had missed that connection of Newton and NewtoWn. Yup, right in your stomping ground is an entirely different thing.
thanks ginny and peggy… words still forming in this mind too. Not sure there will ever be something definitive to say about this, but more wants to be expressed!
yes. that and the fact that that suburban neighborhood school is so, so similar to the one nearly in our backyard, where both our boys went for elementary school.
