Moving along

Some thing’s getting done. Other things getting fucked up (by you know who — don’t ask me about aprons right now).

Will make (an unexpected) run to Salem today in order to take my sister to the North Shore housing office. She’ll be signing the lease for subsidized housing this afternoon. Hooray!

Now if only Son #2 would get a job — something, anything — if only to stave off K and me having to ask, “What is our limit here?” I don’t know the answer to that, but I do know that many families would’ve considered it reached and then some.

It is very cold today. Very. As in, bitter. But, Finn and I walked around the lake with a friend and she graciously shared stuff about the child of hers that has needed extra this and extra that.

Her words were the first gift of the week. The second is that K has agreed to come home early so that I don’t have to abbreviate the visit with my sister in order to accommodate the dog.

Off to fix an apron!

We convinced one daughter to work for a temp agency after months of subsidized job hunting. Her first temp job led to a permanent position.

love your open house bag/basket/containers sitting on the top of the frame in the third photo and is that an ice spiral in a rock in the last one?

The growing up process can trail out for a long time. Our oldest had a rocky transition to full employment and had to move back home for a year, but now has a job he really likes. It was both good to have him around and very stressful as we worried about his future. Good luck.

Thanks Dana. I know it’s not atypical. Everything is made more uncertain by his being so many states away. Not knowing.

Those little ‘house’ bags!!! Takin’ your house with you, wherever you may go! You are a stronger gal than me when it comes to the cold. I have 0 tolerance left for being cold uncomfortable (and hot uncomfortable as well).
As far as growing/grown children, I’ve nothing to offer…well, except that be grateful for the knowing of them and many children these days seem to struggle either with work or moving out. The world is not easy for them nowadays…and not so simple. I am not in the head space to say more.
Hooray for your sister’s new housing and for K and teamwork! May it all go smoothly. xo

Those house bags .. fabulous .. did you make them? That little face pillow … and the swirling ice. Thank goodness we are able to surround ourselves and appreciate such beauty … it’s what helps brighten our thoughts. If we could only just not worry so much but but but …

The house bags are mine, yes. Those are for. Years ago and it makes me want to make them again.

My Mother (deceased) bought my brother his first cab–He’s run his own cab company for decades now and has sent a great boy through law school and now he’s in a great job. She also paid my rent many times though I was in my thirties, and I’m still in this apartment at Seventy five. I wish your son sudden resolve and success. GREAT news about your sister.

My mother did bail outs over the years too. Mostly for my sister. I’m not opposed. It’s the sense of not progressing that’s difficult. He’s fine. He’s just living in an credibly expensive city.
