Thank you for all the fun ideas about how to proceed with this little quilt. I went with a variant of Hazel’s and extended the circles of the “House clocks” in contrasting threads. I like how this disrupts the idea “house” on the one hand but on the other hand integrates the large orange planes of linen.
Speaking of orange, I made a carrot cake for a special birthday. Look who’s all excited.
It’s been soooo hot here. K said last night, “I just would like a couple of days in the 70’s”. Yeah. Yeah — otherwise known as “spring”. I slow down in the heat, which is a little worrying since I’m already to the point where a run to the drug store, a vet visit, and baking a cake constitute a very busy day.

Dee, love your solution for the cloth, it’s a great design lesson! maybe sometimes more is better! Circle of home, circle of time. Surprisingly in-spit-of all the twitter crap, i’ve found calm space to just breathe. I don’t understand how exactly, but i am grateful. Otherwise it’s easy to be engulfed by the insanity! Yes!! Great idea to continue the clock circles into the void. And yes, I do feel like we’re on the edge of something explosive. I keep my fingers crossed that everything is unfolding as it should.
My fingers are crossed too. The suspense is so intense.

Thank you, Michelle — my visiting poet! Another reminder that I owe myself a read of something by Ursula Le Guin. And, a reminder about the fleeting nature of life. le Guin captures that amazingly by calling time both “the shining” and “the dark abounding”.
The circles are inspired … the perfect solution. And in a related note, I recently learned that Ellsworth Kelly’s totems (often over ten feet high), all follow the imaginary edges of much, much larger circles.

Thank you AGAIN for alerting me to Ellsworth Kelly’s work. I need to see those totems! I’ve enjoyed adding more and more circles — some fairly visible in contrasting thread in a split running back stitch and some less visible in wide-spread running stitches in blending colors.

The continued/completed circles look great! That would be a busy day for me too. It’s been at least high 80’s here. I melt. The world feels like it will crash any time, or not and that may be worse. I love Finney’s matching symetrical black leg markings!!
The way suspense is building and building is excruciating sometimes… WHEN WILL THERE BE MORE INDICTMENTS? I just reserved an Airbnb for July, making sure there was wifi and cable because one of Manafort’s trial starts that week. Not missing that! All the while it feels like Trump is fiddling like Nero while our institutions, if not burn, at least — smolder.
I love jackets and jacket weather, but rarely get to enjoy either these days. It’s supposed to be 100 Friday…ugh.

100? Is that dry or humid heat? I know what you mean — how about s few days when it’s just comfortable? Today it is one of those days. Started with a bit of fog and then cleared into a lovely warm day.
It’s always somewhat humid here even though we’re behind on rain for the season. We really did go from freezing temps to hot very quickly. A few of my newly planted vegetables nearly got nuked yesterday. Yes to the milder days!
