living in this travel trailer, with what’s left of All my Worldly Good in that storage unit a few
miles down the road, i find self looking lovingly at your stuff. at the abundance of your stuff. If i came to tour your studio, i would just sit down and Enjoy it all so much.

Do you have the ball too? I remember that you go in rounds with a partner til one slips up and is “out”. Picking up first one at a time, then two, three etc.

I have something to mail you, speaking of. Now if only I’ll get up off my ass and send it.

Woohoo .. that’s exciting! Always fun to have something to look forward to. Jakes .. we played it for hours .. that and pick up sticks.

My high school actually had a varsity jacks team … not that we ever found anyone to compete with that I recall.

Flipping the jacks from cupped palms to the back of your hands and the back again … and using a double set with a super ball … oh the memories.

    Thanks Dee!!

Yes! I’ve been told by my repair guy not to use it but I can’t for the life of me understand why. I also use a make up brush to sweep out stuff.

Wow that sounds like a trick and a half! We just sat on the floor and cast them out and picked ‘em up.

I could move right in and feel at home. And the “jack”–I had to go back and look for it – sort of where’s waldo. If it isn’t messy–I’m not having fun..

I have no separate studio so all the art, fabric, and other stuff is dispersed throughout these rooms. I’m pretty neat, just not clean. Every now and then I think of living in an empty space with everything on shelves in a wall long closet with movable Japanese screens that slide effortlessly. PS I have that pincushion too.

I suppose you get a little dose of clean Asian lines at the zen center? I’m with you tho, in imagining a life without clutter as some alternate but unachievable reality. Maybe it’s time to get going on another sustained effort to get rid of shit. I don’t know how people live in such tight quarters. My sister does too.

I came back to this post … and love it all the more. To have an image of each person’s creative space is a gift. Perhaps your good example will inspire others.

Ha! Love the collage of it all. Can’t judge you from over here next to my boxes, shelves and piles, that’s for certain.(though they are tidier than they’ve ever been at the moment)

Others have done studio tours this week and now I feel the need for an add-on because these pictures don’t BEGIN to show the situation. I go through phases of addressing clutter and mess down there and it might be time again!

I took pix of my creative on-goings. It may look messy to others, but to me, it’s how I roll. How will I know something ‘works’ if it isn’t tossed in, stirred, pawed through…..to be pulled out and having a ta da moment??

I prefer bins to near stacks to be able, as you say, “to paw through”. Lots of bins means lots of colors and textures to play with. It gets frustrating tho when the bins block access to the shelves and it gets so I can’t find what I’m looking for.

It’s like a treasure hunt! My ‘stuff’ exploded in my “studio” and I mostly work in the living room, on the couch…so sewing/writing/gifting/teaching stuff tumbles about everywhere! Except my ‘gifts & purchases” from my cloth people…I like them where I can see ’em! I looked for those wooden men I sent you, to see them living there 🙂
