Took a walk in the woods. Usually on a Sunday, I stay behind. K knew the paths really well and I thought: must do this more often.
I have my Fitbit back on. Gonna set little goals. Did 8 minutes on stationary bike yesterday (hey! I said little goals). My legs hurt.
It was cold today. Even so, at the suggestion of my neighbor, a bunch of us met at the curb for a “cocktail hour.”
Some folks I hadn’t talked to in a couple of seasons. A silver lining.
Cuomo has asked for federal government help in setting up temporary hospitals, including at Stony Brook in Long Island. My brother won’t have another shift there for more than a month.
There were 11 other people on the plane from NY to LA and, given that the NY airports were shuttered earlier in the day, my brother was glad to get a seat.
I figured out how to borrow books from my library on kindle. Hurrah! Even though I have lots of unread books in the house, this makes me feel good.
I’m an hour into “Shelter in Place,” by Norah Roberts. After “Lost Children Archive,” I wanted a fast read. More about that later, maybe.

Ha ha I did that too, figured out how to borrow ebooks from my library #feelinproud 😊 the one I wanted, to reread, is The Fifth Sacred Thing……set in ‘now’ and into the 2040s, but written decades ago, about a group who set up a colony in San Francisco, who have an earth based philosophy….the only way I can describe it……. I read it in the early 90s when my grandson was born, in SF, so we used to walk the places mentioned in the book, and wonder if the events in the book would ever happen. The book opens with people dying of a strange virus/fever they ‘re not able to contain……hmmm!
Remaing isolated as numbers of cases increase in Oz and all non-essential services are shut…..
And I love the idea of a curb party……total social isolation’s not good for us..
Are you sure you want to read that now? The “Shelter in Place” book I’m reading is about a mass shooting. Different enough to be distracting I guess.
No takers so far on my street for a cocktail party….but that is hardly unexpected. Mainers.

your spring still looks so cold but very beautiful, I have to learn how to embrace the idea of frost and snow for when we move up to the Blue Mountains x fingers by the end of the year!

Sydney never gets below 7˚C (44˚F) even at night and that feels really cold for us!

I love the neighborhood gathering … I just hung a crow in my window for today’s neighborhood kid count (they walk around counting how many things they can find in our windows … this is the third iteration)
Sadly, the news isn’t good in Texas … our feckless governor refuses to order shelter in place … saying only that cities officials are welcome to do so if they wish … seriously effed

Our beds will never be this tidy again. It feels necessary to get out every day and fill a barrel or two.
