A click. A clack. I throw my few bucks into the blue bin.
It’s sweatshirt cold this morning. Last night I dreamt about a murder in the woods, knowing that we are planning to go to a wooded park on the North Shore today. It wasn’t really a nightmare, somehow.
Three-eighths of binding done on C’s quilt. Agatha Christie Miss Marple the choice of the afternoon.
A 4.5 earthquake in Southern California hours ago. I wish people would stop asking, Can 2020 get any worse?
Because of course it can.
As much as the anxiety of these final weeks is a metallic tang in my mouth, I am also genuinely curious to see how the judicial nomination plays out. Careers will be made and lost over this.
*not my term. Twitter, of course.
I left this comment on some of the other blogs that mentioned RBG:
This was a gut punch, even though expected, I hoped and prayed that she could remain with us long after the election. Her passing leaves such a hole in our world and in the hearts and minds of young girls everywhere. My granddaughter’s favorite “Who Is” book was the one on Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
A little story: on a vacation trip with her parents and brother to Oregon, the family stopped in a little cafe for lunch. On the walls were drawings of many powerful women. Rowie, my granddaughter navigated the family to the table under Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s drawing and a lovely photo was taken of her under RBG’s portrait.
With respect, reverence and gratitude for a life lived in the service of others. One of my favorite RBG quotes:
“I tell law students… if you are going to be a lawyer and just practice your profession, you have a skill—very much like a plumber. But if you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself… something that makes life a little better for people less fortunate than you.”
Thanks Marti. I’ve missed your poignant comments — comments both universal and full of personal remembrances.
yes. Seriously and honestly, I start here if I see your post notification as I’m drinking coffee, and I return here for guidance when I feel lost – if there’s not a new Dee Post then I’ll cast about for one I recall and re-read for comfort. And this AM I was feeling lost.
We can be lost together. We can be lost and still act. Love you Maggie.
Love you right back, Dee.
I too come here straight away…for news, information, action and more.
