We’re gonna be dancing soon

This headline will be dated by the time I post this and that’s a good thing.

There I was, ear buds in, dancing my heart out at midnight, hoping for the call. Nope. But I got to see a rumpled Kornacki return to the white board, refusing to cede his nerd throne even though no one would’ve begrudged him a few hours sleep and a change of clothes.

Woke to news that Georgia flipped blue. Not long after learned about Biden taking the lead in Pennsylvania.

People can’t decide whether to anoint Stacey Abrams Queen of the Universe or offer her a Nobel Peace prize.

Autocratic Chaos maker soon to be relegated to the sidelines, a King maker no longer.

So, first, let’s celebrate kicking slime bag ninny and corrupt cohorts out of office before we get to addressing the shocking (not shocking?) support for trump.

And, the Senate is still in play, thanks — again — to GEORGIA! I love that I know about both these democratic candidates and supported their campaigns with money (Jon Ossoff’s last run, too). That level of commitment isn’t going away.

In other news: hips ache at the 45 minute mark. Decision: eat breakfast before setting out with Finn so I can take Tylenol or just grunt it out and take it on return?

I’m making a pumpkin pie today. K’s sister and her husband are coming for a Thanksgiving Dinner on the patio tomorrow. It’s supposed to be in the high-60’s so it should be comfie. I’ll roast a turkey breast, not a whole bird and instead of the usual mashed potatoes, I’ll add roasted garlic. There will be string beans or Brussel sprouts or both.

I know, right? It’s like the b-list actress who becomes a sensation “overnight” when really she’s been working her ass off for a decade.

I am having nightmares about the litigation that will ensue with the memory of GW Bush perverting the election in 200 in Florida with the help of his brother

It’s not the litigation that unnerves me. It’s the terrorists— well-armed and frankly, bonkers.

I think I’ll be dancing (feeling better) when it is more (read that completely) settled. The utter shock at how close these races are…(voice trails off).
It’s not a horse race, it’s a sloth race! My friend said it’s like being in labor 🙂 Geez
I’ve really been rooting for Jon Ossoff, especially after hearing him talk about how Perdue manipulated photos of him, making his nose longer. It’s personal.
Still we wait, with a lighter heart.

I’m waiting for public dancing. I really want to celebrate this win when and if it comes before going to hand wringing. Think of all the horrible people who will be leaving Washington! But the work needed to be done is daunting, necessary, and mostly on white people.

I’m not ready to dance. The next two month stretch is going to be an unending nightmare. Before the ‘horrible people’ leave they are all going to be in our faces desperate for relevance and ink/camera time 24/7. Am planning an informed but detached sense of celebration even just internally. there’s a reason those who know keep stressing the most dangerous time is between the break-up and the divorce decree.

I’ll dance when Elizabeth Mika says she doesn’t have a headache anymore and believes we can all exhale with relative certainty there’s not another whiptail coming.

Oh I know. I hear you and worry about same. But I’m gonna give myself a hot minute of joy because it could have easily gone the other way and I don’t know what we would’ve done then.

I’d take it too – and probably more – if I lived east or west of where I do. As it is I live in a town where 67% of the vote stayed red. J and I are unsurprised but utterly confounded.

I did have a small yet potent burst of joy this morning to realize I might get a chance to see my girl crush make some waves. Kamala has been my version of your Maddow since the very first hearing in which she absolutely shredded Rosenstein.

Ha! Kamala eclipses Maddow on about every metric. I want to see a movie just of clips of her descending from an airplane. All kinds of weather, footwear, and jackets.

I know exactly what you mean. I found her when my brain was still broken. She’s an enormous part if how I re-taught myself critical thinking but wow what a high price tag!

Well I’ve danced to relieve the stress of waiting, I’ve danced to try to dispel the agony of how close this came to be and when it is official, I will dance in celebration and keep on dancing through the chaotic 2 months to follow. Dance is how I go through life in bad and good times because it fuels energy and it will take energy for the hard work down the road. I live in a conservative city here in New Mexico, one that the great evil visited so it was a deep joy to see that our county went 54% for Biden/Harris and of course, New Mexico went BLUE plus we elected an all female delegation to the House : 2 Native American women, Deb Haaland, of Laguna Pueblo, reelected and one of the first Native American women elected in 2018, Yvette Herrell, a Cherokee and Republican was also elected along with the first Hispanic woman to represent Northern New Mexico, Teresa Leger Fernandes. Since 1976, New Mexico has not had a Hispanic Senator until now. Ben Ray Lujan replaces retiring Senator Udall.

Hey! Are we there yet! Haven’t slept a wink… Maybe someone needs to invoke the Cromwell, “In the name of God, go!” Oh, happy days…

Not yet. I mean yes but they’re not calling it. Out of fear of baby whining tyrant trump, I presume.
