I might be locating a little ambition to sew garments. Step one: adjust dress dummy to my measurements. I think draping might be the way to go for me since following directions is not my strong suit.

I’ve taken in a near overdose of electronic news since Wednesday. Hard copies of legit newspapers! Don’t take them for granted! I miss holding and reading a newspaper. It was a thing in our family. My father got to read first, then me, then my mother. The NY Daily News, the Post and the local paper were delivered daily. I had to go to the library to get the NY Times. Nothing here in GA worth going out for. Garments! I’m with you on the pattern thing. How many times I ripped the delicate tissue just getting the damn things unfolded! I’ve pulled a dozen things off hangars that are going to be dismembered and dyed. Bought them just for the cloth in the first place. Time for everything to serve. Still no sign of the little bears, sad to say.
Me too on tv and other screen news. I never really got in the habit of reading newspapers. If I read them now it’s cause I can see them on my phone. We get partial paper week Boston Globe, Sunday NY Times, the weekly local TAB, the New Yorker, and Atlantic Magazine. And I get the Washington Post online. Finally figured out password situation on New Yorker recently too, so now I can read on my iPad.
We always got multiple newspapers in print … local, state and national (NYT) … I loved walking down our 300′ driveway in the Hill Country before dark to fetch them. Until we switched over to digital … ah well. So now we’re glued to screens … better for the environment I guess. Hmm.

Your little fox face is so sweet .. seeing sweet is what I need right now. I’m so glued to the news it’s all so beyond my comprehension. I’m commenting less and less cuz I just lack words to express my feelings.
I toggle between speechless and a sputtering rage that begs to be articulated.
Dee~ I think Instagram would target my tastes same as yours. I always love the layered, flowy stuff, even if I get way too hot and have the wrong body shape for that look 🙂 Oh well, one can dream. Your new fox is precious. As far as newspapers…my parents always took the LA Times. As a kid I loved the ‘funnies’ and the calendar sections. J. used to go buy it when we met, mostly the Sunday paper, which we’d read together. Also, I loved reading the local paper when I lived in NV, small town happenings…even my dad took that paper at his house in CA. He like being a “local” 🙂 These days, no paper…websites and TV news. Lots of that. Breathe. xo
I used to love the funnies as a kid, too! We had a hollering-out ritual for claiming first for the funnies — usually in the car after Mass. My father kept outsmarting us. “One with the Funnies!!” became “Zero with the Funnies” became “El Supremo with the Funnies!” He was funny that way. BTW, in case I can’t comment on your blog this morning — thank you for the Chicken/Violin performance. Hilarious, and as you note, a tonic.

We get a paper delivered every day and I would be lost without it. Real paper. It gets shredded into the compost pile.
On a related note, I was so interested to read on your blog about how bereft you felt in a week without books. Kudos to you for keeping a reading habit alive and well.
(((Dee))) I keep hoping to see the 25th amendment invoked every time I come back to the computer, the orange thug needs to be thrown in the dust bin of history as the worst president ever.
We have become used to slow-walked or non-existent consequences. It will have to be impeachment (this week, maybe?) followed by non-conviction in the Senate (our new majority not being enough to convict) and it will have to be after Biden is sworn in, because — McConnell. Hopefully, a resolution prohibiting him from ever holding office again will get enough support to pass.
So much for a nimble response equal to the emergency. So much for those GOP senators who attempted (lamely) to redeem themselves in the final hour by saying ‘enough is enough.’ It is scary to think about what trump might do next. One commentator guessed that his private army numbers near 15 million (20% of the 74MM votes). That’s 15 million people willing to shoot, ransack, kidnap, execute, and die for a pack of lies. One tweeter said, these folks would rather die than let white supremacy go and it appears to be true.
(((Dee))) on my first day at high school here in Australia in 1969 the nun who introduced me to the class said “Oh you are from the USA, they have such terrible racial problems.” to which I replied, “you don’t even see that you have a problem here” the First Nation people were not recognized here as people until 1967, no treaty has ever been signed…
