Snow sparkle

Almost blinding, the sun reflecting off the snow. I love the light and I love the shadows too. Come four o’clock, those shadows will smudge into blue and purple.

Yesterday visibility was terrible and nothing had been cleared. I slipped and fell on Duxbury Ave. Ankle crumped and suddenly I was lying in the street. It was minor in every way except for my confidence. I cut our loop short.

The plows and neighbors have been busy clearing walkways and streets, so today will be better. Plus, all that sparkle!

The news is fairly consuming. I’ll put a few screen shots here, for memory’s sake.

that feeling when you know you can’t stop the fall … glad you are in one piece

and Ukraine … my heart hurts for her people … and for the soldiers who are ordered to commit atrocities that will forever haunt them …

Snow sparkle makes a walk outside magical but you always need to be mindful. So relieved that your fall wasn’t serious.

It’s really something to know that we are the oldest people living in our four-plex. We have a good landlord who takes this to heart and every time that it has snowed this year, and by the way, we have had more snow this year than in all of the 8 yrs that we have lived here…anyway, he quietly comes and shovels snow from our sidewalks, entryway to our home, the stairs and then lays salt everywhere to that we all have traction…believe me I need it because I have osteoporosis and a fall would be a bit major for me…sure fell down a lot on the icy walk into the little town that we lived in, in Washington. Usually I landed in the street and it always seemed to bring out the neighborhood dogs!

This morning I ordered seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and was moved by the fact that 100% of the proceeds of my order will go to humanitarian aid for Ukraine. Turns out that the owner’s great grandfather came from Ukraine. This event started on Friday, and will run until midnight tomorrow.

Nice your landlord does such a good job! I have osteoporosis too and it adds to the worry factor.

Thanks for the seeds link. Love the aid for Ukraine.

First want to say your biscuits from the other day look delicious .. yummy!! All that snow indeed looks beautiful but but but I still am not a fan of winter 🥶 not so much the snow but the cold. Oh and all the ice we had here last week was horrible .. glad you were not here to slip on that yikes! But any fall at our ripe ages is scary so I’m glad you’re ok.

I used to do gymnastics and dance and even aikido for a while , so it’s hard for me to get used to feeling so cautious. The cold has been tough here too. I often wear tights under my pants, down coat below my knees, two scarves, hat and gloves.
