Connecting

It is such a pleasure to stitch these Hearts for Charleston quilt squares together! It seems that there is an organic order. I’ve moved them around a little but the actual joining has easy.  Some line up. Some overlap. Most quilters added a healthy margin around the square which, as it turns out I’m including to some extent. This means that Mo’s square, which is exactly 10″ square, needed some additional cloth. Today I stitched it to a dark blue checked cordoroy that I cut from an old shirt. It won’t show much, but the color and checks will blend well.

Tomorrow some friends come by for a first blessing of the squares. We will probably do this again in December.

I have been wondering if connecting the blocks would be a breeze or a bitch…glad that they came together well. Elongating them is interesting. We can see them anew.

So far they are connecting up easily. The longer vertical seams might be a little trickier just because of the weight of the squares, but not much, I shouldn’t think.

Looks masterful and like a real bitch to make the connections so masterfully! The elongation is arresting! So so lovely.

It hasn’t been a bitch at all. It is so gratifying (and a little intimidating at times) to stitch into others’ squares. It is like having a dialogue.

Those looking pic are errors that arise from time to time when I post from my phone. I have no idea why. Should be fixed now.

Goodness, I love seeing the places where they come together! Well done, Dee, this is just so grand! (ps I think I mentioned it, but just in case, that white basting thread should slip right out of mine)

It is grand. (There’s another one of those words. Like “swell”!). Yes the white threads will be pulled out but for now they are still acting as a truing measure for me.
