Home again

One of the best things about travel is returning home. Is this an old lady thing?

I spent the day cleaning and as part of that effort, asked K to move his workstation. Our kitchen table is fully visible and useable as a place to eat for the first time since March 2020. This feels like a minor victory, though I’m not sure it is.

After a week in Los Angeles, we did not swing through Denver as originally planned. D got Covid two weeks ago and was still symptomatic so it made no sense. We haven’t seen him since June 2021. We did get to spend time with our older boy though and that was great.

Mmmm…for me I think it is a comfort/homebody thing. The light on the cactus is great, as is a dog with his head out the window – watching the world go by! 🙂

Not an old lady thing whatsoever cause home is returning comfort, is familiar, wraps itself around us each time we come back,

First photo, all of the delicious ingredients for a welcome home meal. It always seems to me that the first meal upon returning home from being away,, somehow, always tastes so special.

Assume that you visited your brother and that he is doing well.

Cooking at home has its pleasures. In my brother’s kitchen I am perpetually looking for something, opening and closing drawers, making do with a substitute, standing on tiptoes (it’s a tall-person kitchen).

He has made tremendous progress. Gone is the wasted old man look. His legs and good arm have gained a lot of muscle mass. He’s been hard at work!

welcome home … the best part for me has always been getting back into our own bed … second best is getting back into my own kitchen

Oh and how I slept that first night back! Delicious. I will say though that between a new mattress and super light-blocking curtains, my brother’s guest room is very good for sleeping.

Very happy to read here how well your brother is doing and that you got to see his progress in person. Maybe getting yourself some black out curtains at home would help you sleep better .. you wrote not long ago having trouble getting a full nights sleep. Anyway I’m happy you got to visit with family and that you’re now back Home .. sweet home.

Any cleared surface is a victory! I enjoy travel, but always glad to come home. Sometimes it feels as if I’m arriving to a second vacation. So sorry you didn’t get to see your boy. Blue was planning on an August visit, but now it’s December, hopefully.
