Waking at 5:30 a.m. to rainfall is not a typical Los Angeles experience, but not unprecedented these days either.
On the east coast before we left, wind took down a maple and our internet on Monday (getting through two days without cable or internet is another story). Comcast gave us a four to six pm window for Tuesday. Came after five. Declared it too dark to work. Said he’d come back in the morning. Did not come back in the morning.
We found this out by text from the house sitter who had to leave our stressed out Finny for four hours in order to go home to work (he gets anxious the minute the suitcases come down from the attic).

Now? Our house sitter sent us the account number, but should we have her rustle through our paper list of passwords? Can’t have Comcast send us a reset link because neither K nor I get that email on our phone and K doesn’t have the password to that either.
Oh travel. Oh technology.
Meanwhile, you may have seen on Instagram that our Boston Uber driver missed two turns on the way to Logan, meaning were seven minutes from the airport for more than ten minutes. Surreal and alarming. Loop after bizarre loop on roads we’d never heard of. Fun times.
But! On the easy side of things: I was the only person using Clear ID and cutting a long line legitimately is always satisfying!
My brother’s partner is sick. His caregiver is sick. Billy feels goop gathering. Worrisome. Not Covid but still worrisome.

That’s all for now.
Except to say I’m pissed at Mitch McConnell again. This all could have all ended with him. Over. Kaput. And remember what he said as he declined to convict the Orange Menace? “This should be decided in a court of law.”

Rain here too; so glad that you posted because I was not sure if you and K were going to be able to make your flight due to weather…
Thinking of all of you : Billy, his partner, caregiver, may all get well. and may you and K, not get whatever is going around. One thing I know for use is that your being there with Billy is just right and maybe, make one of your outstanding meals, filled with your culinary savvy and sisterly love and by the light of the Winter Solstice, I know it will nourish all of you in very special ways…sending you quiet joys and the comfort of being together now, during this holiday season.ear.
(We certainly have our work cut out for us next year… not even my belief in the power of the light of Winter Solstice can lessen my concerns… Lumps of coal to Congress, a Star in the stocking of Colorado although I expect whiplash from the decision by the humbug Republicans.)- .
Happy Solstice Marti! And thanks for your good wishes. May you and yours also experience quiet joy and good food and company.
Oy vey. Except the clear ID sounds gratifying. Wear your N95 7×24 and you’ll be fine. I’m tempted to go stay with Finny. Don’t worry, I would if I could but I can’t. 💙💛
Mask wearing is a good idea.
Oh my goodness Dee! What adventures for you all…outages, unknowing drivers, illness and politics – oh my!
Please just let this year end, fade off quietly into the deep recesses of our memories.
Gentle mask wearing hugs to you and yours with wishes for making the best of your time together. xo
Honestly most of this falls within the realm of inconvenience. A good story but not much else.
Sounds like every day brought a new adventure .. not the good kind. But I am happy that you and your brother are together and praying still healthy. Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas to you, Tina. Things here look good.
