Oral arguments

We took a walk with Finn, sputtering the whole while about the shameful dereliction of duty by the House GOP and our shared (and not just by us) opinion that the SCOTUS is NOT going to do the right thing. They will not, in other words, uphold the Constitution. They will NOT apply their famous Originalists or texturalist approaches. Thomas, though married to an insurrectionist, will NOT recuse, thereby (as Joyce Vance states) making a mockery of the the Court’s new so-called ethics rules.

I will iron. Lots of reasons to love ironing, including the fact that it makes order out of mess.

Lots of places to listen. I’m tuning into CSPAN.

PS One of my go-to commentators about authoritarianism in general and about this case in particular, is Timothy Snyder.

Huge rolling sighs here, and active horror that we live in a nation where do not trust the highest court. I wish I could be there with you as you make your comments – weighty, astute, studied, focused on whats right and whats a lie, and what’s not. Just listening now to “term limits”. JFC what a start.
    Happy ironing. Good choice imho.

Not surprised at Thomas or Kavanaugh’s attitude at all. Scum.

I’m trying hard not to grind my teeth listening to them! Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Timothy Snyder is excellent. Did you read his book “On Tyranny”? I’m afraid the court’s decision will disappoint us. It’s not going to be that “easy” unfortunately.

He is a cautionary voice that sometimes seems like he’s screaming in a hurricane. Yes, I read “On Tyranny” and sent copies of it to both my boys.
