In WordPress stats, you can see what posts people are looking at. Sometimes I go back and read one. Yesterday it was a post called “muscular peace.”
There was a lot of angst (though not a lot of details). Big energy. And generous responses from readers.
I didn’t get into it, but my younger son was going through teenaged difficulties at the time — common but nevertheless acute. And I was deep into my “sister years,” the near-decade of her burdensome dependency and pathological bullshit.
Even though the absence of that kind of drama can only be considered a good thing, I still felt like maybe I’ve lost something.
I said to K, “I think I’ve gotten boring.” His response was perfect: “Politics will do that.”

Baby quilt coming along.

I feel the same way, Dee. My mom always used to admonish us that if we couldn’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. I’ve been so quiet that I’m boring myself.
I hear that you may see some snow soon. Enjoy!
Glad to know I’m not alone although I don’t always hold my tongue.
I see winter storm warnings for tomorrow but my weather app shows no precipitation for next two days so I’m a little confused.
He is salt to your pepper
Ha! I like that.
Makes me smile. Politics is relentless. Im just glad I’m married to a person of the same party. Is K a-oolitical?
We are in agreement about virtually everything. He reads The Globe. I don’t. I still read twitter. He never has. We both watch 1/2 of DeadlineWH most days. Kimmel and Colbert at lunch. NYTimes, Newyorker (him more then me) and The Atlantic.
we went to our daughter’s house for the Super Bowl and listened as four 40-somethings discussed “the age thing” vis-a-vis Biden … “Trump’s virtually the same age,” I interjected, “the difference is who Biden has chosen to surround himself with” … and then added I thought they were both too old four years ago
the scary part is that they were also discussing whether a third party candidate might have a shot this year … and they are all left-leaning, so that would definitely take votes away from Biden … but this is Texas, after all, so likely none of our votes will “count” in the end
I also did a quick tally in my head and realized I’ve voted in 12 presidential elections and am batting .500
