I hadn’t toured the backyard in a minute. Look what I found.

Our old stump.

And these things! Wasp galls again? Whatever they are, I won’t be bringing them into the house.

From a step back.

Virginia bluebells emerging like heads of romaine. Brave hyacinth.

Our blanket will be bigger than the crib quilt.
Pieced it today while listening to as much of the hearing on the Hill as I could stand. I have two comments. One, Garland should resign. And, I don’t think it went exactly the way the Republicans wanted it to. Dems highlighting the differences between what Biden did and what trump did was damning.

Ooh, if they are oak galls you can make ink or use them in dyeing.
What if they’re occupied?
This is Laurie, didn’t sign in. Duh
Your name came up the first time so I figured
I’m pretty sure the holes indicate the gall wasps have departed … but for sure they don’t look like something you’d particularly want to bring in the house
Good to know.
Liz is right, the hole means the wasp is gone. Lucky you to have oak galls, they make great ink/paint!
Sigh…that was Deb G above.
Never heard of gall wasps .. I’ll look it up. Your yard is like a trip to discovery world .. lost to see and learn I love it.
