Angel Oak and SC slides

Reading at bookstore is one week from today and I’m sick to death of promoting myself.

So while supposedly creating yet another post to promote my book, I ended up getting lost in some old pix from South Carolina.

Pictures include: Newtonville Books, bullrush and Sweetgrass baskets, Boone Hall, Magnolia Plantation, Drayton Hall, Aiken Rhett House, marsh where Wappoo was located, Cawcaw interpretive center marsh, bulletin boards (Sargent painting, Mahershala Ali, Chiwetel, Ejiofor) and a few collages (couple incorporating the Door of No Return, Ghana). Angel Oak.

Dee~ Wow, so powerful! The slide show tells a full story and the music choice adds to that. Love the tree collage pic. You know I’d be all over that if I knew how! haha
Self-promoting must be a challenge, but you are so worth it!

What is the music that you have used in this video collage? It is so in keeping with what you are showing for it is mournful, lamentful music…

When I saw the cypress knees, I thought back to the first time I had ever seen them. It was in Lafayette, Louisiana and I was awe struck!. I turned to Rich and said, ” these are swamp buddhas”.

To me they seem like swamp monks and nuns. Same idea.

The music is off the slidemaker app. No authorship on offer. “Melancholy Cinematic” I think it was.

Love the photos and the music.
I finished reading The Weight of Cloth yesterday and wanted to tell you how much I
enjoyed it. The first person narrative by the various characters worked really well for me as a reader…they were well rounded…And I enjoyed learning more of the history of the 1700s that I was not aware of. I know the public appearances and self promotion might be difficult, but the story the book tells is one that I hope more will discover through your book. And I wanted to tell you how much I like your thoughtful words in the “Author’s Note” section.
One last thing…a scene that really stands out to me is one near the end when the freedom seeking Maggie sees the wild boar mom with piglets at the pond and feels empathy towards them as a mom.
Best wishes on your next book!

Thank you so much Betty. The feedback really matters. I especially love hearing favorite scenes. If you’re on Amazon and so inclined, a review would also be very appreciated.

I’m in awe of your promotional diligence. I get a “walk the plank” feeling just thinking about having to stand up in front of a crowd and talk about my book. Go you!
