What a gorgeous day it was yesterday.
Black Hawk helicopters dropped ICE agents onto an apartment building in Chicago’s Southside.

We walked into town and it was quiet because of Yom Kippur.
The agents broke into every apartment and trashed them. No warrants. No ID’s. No probable cause.

A neighbor with fall bounty from her CSA share gave us a big bag of produce. Ratatouille is on the menu today.
The U.S. agents zip-tied kids together and brought them out on the street. Held some for hours.

Walking through dried leaves is an act of nostalgia. That sound!
They’re calling these warrantless, baseless, based-on-race-only stops Kavanaugh stops now since he blithely concurred with a shadow docket ruling staying a lower court’s prohibition on race-based stops. He wrote in a manner so clueless it makes me shake my head.

It was chilly yesterday morning and today too. 62 in our bedroom. I only slept for a couple of hours.
Is Trump declaring war on drug cartels in order to make a back door to having war powers?

Reading a novel last night and came across this:

Have a great Friday and oh, I hope Grace finds her way to a WordPress blog. Her absence online is weird. Upsetting.

today’s post was stellar.
Took me back to being a kid playing on the teeter totter … just going up followed by coming down. I missed the Chicago story you’re writing about … how low will he go?? The coming days with all the talk of massive layoffs … his terrorizing has only just begun.
Yes Grace … I miss her sooo much 😢😢
The Chicago story is worth tracking down. Chris Hayes did a section on it. I’m sure you could find on YouTube. It’s such a shocking horror story and it’s really not cracking the news.
I hear that Grace is figuring out WordPress and will be back! Good news. Dana at Raven and Sparrow said she’d do the same.
Heads in the sand, heads up and suffering from whiplash as every day, more and more is destroyed by this regime. It takes guts to pivot and at times, it is easier to duck down but we stand and face until, we have to stop and let it go for a time. This is where I find myself these days; some days ignoring the whole thing, other days, up in arms- whiplash ever present!.
Here in New Mexico, ICE lurks, DACA recipients are stalked and local lawyers, the ACLU, the Governor, etc. react to help. This is a blue state with a strong Democratic governor who also at the end of August called on the National Guard to go to a small town at their behest due to an uptick in violent crime and drugs;. the picture this presents is disturbing to say the least..
Healthcare taken away, many will suffer and many will die but no worries because if you need meds, you can go to Trump RX, soon to be available at I’m sure, an exorbitant cost! And if you choose to go there, you most certainly will be in their cross hairs…
My twin grandchildren, juniors in high school, are well in the throes of PSAT tests, attending meetings with college recruiters who come to their respective high schools. Several of the big name school are being targeted by this regime by the threat of having funds withheld if they do not adhere to the regime’s beliefs. I am not saying that my grands are looking at those colleges but they are looking at the CA UC system and it won’t be long before those same restrictions may be thrown at these colleges. Already UC Berkeley gave the regime 160 names of students and professors who support Palestine. College is a place where beliefs are discussed, debated and solidified. What kind of an education will our grand children receive? They hold dual US and British citizenship and talk of studying abroad is on the table albeit not as likely due to cost…
I always appreciate your updates from New Mexico, Marti.
The in and out of attention that you describe is shared by many that I know around here these days. I only worry when people take longer, more permanent-feeling breaks.

Grace is working through it. We spoke yesterday. I mentioned her on the blog today. The link just became available, I will post it for everyone tomorrow.

Thanks. I read your note and Deb also mentioned toned the same to me.
Dee~ Ah, what a great, even if very hard post. This is how it is these days. At least I will have the step away time of the Pow Wow this weekend.
Take care
Nancy
Oh my, what a country you live in today . . .
Yeah. It’s a nonstop shit show.
Sadly it is . . .
(and now he thinks himself “great to have ended a war one handed” grrrr)
Given the boasting and lying of Trump and the ruthless untrustworthy nature of Netanyahu, we’ll see. I hope it’s over.
