What’s that? Hope, you say

What a night! What a beautiful night! Woke up this morning and did some Joy Scrolling (as opposed to Doom Scrolling). Everywhere you looked — and I mean everywhere — there were great results, often with sizable margins.

Georgia, Detroit, Mississippi, California, New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York City, Mass., New Jersey, and so many more. From gubernatorial seats to school boards, the message is clear: the American people don’t like Trump or his authoritarian agenda.

In other news, Ken and I celebrated our 35th anniversary last night at a small restaurant in Newton Center. I never comment much about these occasions, but I will say this: there is something very sane and relaxing about being past fanfare. I got him some special chocolates and he fixed the closet light I’ve been missing (and bitching about missing) for more than ten years. Dinner was tasty!

PS based on research, it’s clear my blog is being scraped by AI bots for data. I will install some sort of filter if I can figure out how to do it, but in the meantime since it’s not mucking up the works, I’ve decided not to worry about it.

PPS I now see calls for apps to offer AI blocking functions. Pinterest just added such an option, to much approval.

Also, I’ve recently learned that adding the word “fuck” to a google search blocks an AI response (except when it doesn’t and then ooh boy watch out). It may seem silly but typing a four letter word is easier than inserting a minus sign followed by “AI.”

From our dog walk this morning.

Well, I got up this morning, (3 am), read the news and danced my way around the house and out the front door! Finally, a good, loud, joyous exhale… Too much you say? Too optimistic since we still have a long way to go? Well, NO!!!- Then to top off the joy of yesterday, you and K celebrated your 35th anniversary. There is a sweetness and a realness to being long term married. Ups and downs, love and lust, anger and laughter, worry and wonder, joy and sorrow… Life wraps itself around like a hug and sharing a life, for so many years…how we simply go on. To you and K for going on, love and congratulations to you both.

I absolutely treasure the image of you dancing out the door in joy! And leave it to you to better express the meaning of an anniversary than I did. Thank you for both.

You are welcome. See I’ve had a few more anniversaries to understand how it all goes…in January, we will be celebrating our 56th anniversary and I don’t look a day over 22, the age that I got married!

    Belated Happy 35th!!
and oh it felt so good to fall asleep last night, like the ol’ days. We celebrated with friends – no room to dance. We did do a little jig with our neighbor on the sidewalk outside our doors.
I know they’ll be ramping up the bs, but for maybe a few hours, we get to celebrate.

and oh boy… internet security stuff. When I worked in IT I had to communicate with the security team re: data security and that got heavy around Y2K and just kept getting worse. That was before blogs were a thing. But, the security systems for the operating system that “my” database sat on top of, were stabbing bots constantly: I remember doing a lot of some minus signs and writing filters early on when writing raw code, but later I was privileged to just ooooh over the engineer’s shoulders at the diagrams of system security layers. There’s a reason why we have engineers.
ANYway, really sorry you are having to worry about anything like this re: your blog.
BTW I sent you a couple of updated photos of 2 paintings.

      Thanks, Maggie!

The BS will be coming for sure.

My eyes glaze over when I start to read any computer fix, even the simple ones. I don’t know how you stood mucking about in it for all those years.

Victories feel wonderful, don’t they? A moment to celebrate. And your anniversary, too! Robert and I will celebrate 35 years in February, just a little behind you. And you have a late dahlia. We’ll take all the good moments we can.

Congratulations on your anniversary … and I love Ken’s gift of time and your gift of sweetness (shared I assume, because everything tastes better when oohed and ahhed over together)

Thanks Liz and yes of course Ken is sharing his chocolates. And I can now discern whether the socks I’m selecting are blue, black, or dark brown!
