Grief Collages

A few recent collages from the Grief Series, in chronological order.

“I am not okay”
“There is no happily ever after”
“Does the sadness ever end?”
“What good are cloth and pages if you’re still gone?” (That’s Tyler the cat in B&W)

Lastly, in my many boxes of older papers where I dug up some of these images, I found this picture of Danny. He’s with his cousin and looking away. He’s wearing a cast (bright green) so that would make him 14.

Dee~ “Does the sadness…” – her eyes hold the eternity of your pain and that of a million other mothers…so powerful.
“What good are…” – an unanswerable question suspended in time, for all time…but perhaps an invitation to more questions that may have answers?
You are here to ask, seek answers, make and do…eat and hug loved ones and walk the dog. Perhaps those are the answers? Sending love during these difficult days.

These questions can be hyperbolic but nevertheless genuine. I think I’ve mentioned that I feel gratitude every day. I’m so appreciate of my communities, both here and “in real life.” And obviously (I think), I’m taking a great deal of succor in writing and quilting. But the questions hold.

Dee~ Yes, genuine indeed. And yes, you have mentioned your gratitude, appreciation, ability for humor and creativity…but the questions will come and stand (at least that is what I am thinking)…as they should in such a personally unprecedented experience. I am so sorry for your pain Dee.
