If I had more energy, I’d make a video clip of the stack of compositions that I removed from the boards, but this photo will do for my point, which is, a thorough clean up of ongoing displays should be a regular part of my process going forward.
It felt so good to TAKE THEM DOWN, especially the long stagnant, barely begun pieces.
I’ve also been collecting fabrics to give to my niece, who will be here to celebrate Danny on Sunday. So far? Several large bin’s worth. Also feels good.
Even though I could spend days and days bundling up give aways, it’s probably important that I shift back to prepping for Sunday.
The eulogy times in at ten minutes. A lot of the sites I visited recommended shorter, but fuck it. It won’t be boring and ten minutes isn’t THaT long.

those blank boards…
a kind of startling tribute, well, I cannot find the words.
The process and result has been impactful.
September has always been my favorite month. A month that I call, the balance month. A time when season begins to change, (autumn equinox) hot days give way to crisp days, and we slowly turn toward the moving away from the sun. Leaves turn color and dance to the ground, in honor of season, and the quiet time to come. A good time to celebrate Danny.
Someone once told me that a eulogy was nothing more than a resume. I looked at that person and asked if he had ever given one; he said no. He asked me the same question and I told him that I had, written some, read by others, as well as spoken eulogies that I had written. I then told him what a eulogy is to me: Eulogies, are conversations, some might say, a final conversation, but I believe that we continue “talking” with our loved ones long after they leave the physical world. Eulogies are for those gathered to celebrate the life of our loved ones but they are also a love letter to our loved ones. These words have no time limits because they continue, telling a story of what made our loved ones the special people that they always will be. Eulogies are story blessings, words that come from our heats, words that come from that intimate, connective place and when shared, honor our loved ones in the way that only loving, laughing, memorable words can do. So dear Danny, get ready, for your Mom, has a loving story to tell…
Thanks Marti. Mine is part love letter to Danny and part consolation to those who loved him, trying to make sense of his suicide.
I hope today is wrapping you and yours in comfort, love, and Danny’s spirit. Saying all of your names here and sending love.
Thank you Hazel. 💕
