Longer Nights

How nice to go to sleep by 10:00 and wake at 5:30 a.m., refreshed.
How nice to whip up a batch of potato leek soup that is comforting, delicious and contains not an ounce of cream.
How nice to have a pile of new socks to choose from in the morning.
How nice to be invited elsewhere for Thanksgiving.
How wonderful to have enough inventory for December sales to not be scrambling.
Look at the 11 bins of leaves on the curb that I did nothing to produce!
Listen to the sounds of a quiet morning — the hum of this machine, the deeper hum of the dishwasher, and nothing else.  Ahhhhhhhhh.

Light and dark, and another Photoshop Quilt

I return to the Brookline beeches for their beauty, their bulk, and their wisdom.  Just printed this Photoshopped photo onto a canvas-sy cotton through my inkjet.  The last transfer of the beeches that I stitched into a quilt sold at Newton Open Studios.

Here’s the photo, untouched.

I love the way these trunks translate into CREATURE, as in MOBILE — is this thing going to grunt, tug and start lumbering off towards Boston?!!

With all the gold leaves capturing light and giving it back to me, I can’t believe that I asserted earlier in the year that I preferred these trees naked!

Keeping light resident while looking at the road, at the grey, at the light-resistant — there’s the trick!

November Gold

November-gold

The last three Newton Open Studios that I have participated in, I have made almost exactly the same amount of money.  Is that weird, or isn’t it?

More on how the sale went when I have a little energy.

Today, glorious, but D home sick, my own whickering soar throat.  Made the best chicken broth ever — I can’t really account for why some days it’s good and others bland. But I do know that when one is a tad under the weather, chicken soup truly is the best thing.

The new Star Market is bizarre… maybe more on that later, maybe not. Bebo bagged our goods, making the classic bagger’s error — grouping like items instead of pairing the heavies with the lights.  The result, two bags light as feathers, two bags straining the paper handles.  Why do they ALL do this?
