Black cloth hung

My heart is open, my will is fierce. We are fucked six ways to Sunday. My heart is open, my will is fierce. We are in the midst of a catastrophe that will ripple out in destructive waves in every possible direction, some that can be anticipated, many that cannot. My heart is open, my will is fierce. Even though one of the campaigns revealed a deep and pervasive  hatred and emboldened it and even though we would have had to address that hatred no matter what, this is way worse. Way worse. My heart is open, my will is fierce. We will be spared bogus congressional investigations and immediate impeachment proceedings, but this is way worse. Way worse. My heart is open, my will is fierce.

Many will be called to fight the awful results of this nightmarish ascendancy. To speak out. To form broad coalitions. To protect our brown brethren and shield daughters of all colors. Money will have to matter less and courage will have to matter more.

My heart is open, my will is fierce.

What about you?

I’m kind of numbed by all things political, although after Brexit less taken by surprise…..it seems to me there are a lot of people who have felt unseen/unheard/ignored/abandoned for way too long, and to them the only way forward was voting for Trump, just as many Brits decided to opt out of the EU; so here we are, what do we do? what will I do?
small stuff I guess: start at home, in the office, in school, in my local community, reconnect!
each day (re)consider what truly matters and ‘simply’ be where I am
yes, open my heart and (try to) be fierce

I will not let this sad time take me to a dark place…I will open my heart and move with a hopeful, positive loving attitude in everything that I do. My work has just begun with teaching English reading and writing to the refugees from Congo who are relocating to our community. Additionally I will be sewing with the women as they make clothing and items for their homes. Love conquers hate and I will flood my spirit with love every day.

What a wonderful response. Would you be willing to email me a picture of yourself tutoring ? I don’t know what you look like and it would mean a lot to me.

Dee…I will see if we can get a photo one day after the holidays…working with the Congolese women. They are doing so well and it is my pure delight to have this opportunity. Holiday blessings to you and yours.

I found this news difficult to take in this morning, difficult to believe. I guess it shows how disenfranchised so many people feel, but to do this? In Brexitland hate crimes have increased, my feelings go out to all non white people and women in the USA.

As hard as this is to wrap my mind around, I cannot imagine what it would be like today as a mother with sons carrying African or Hispanic blood.

I wonder if others have your experience? Some time soon walk me through it. There must be other Mac users out there who are not having a hard time. It’d be so great if I could read your words here now and then.

My heart does not feel open just now, but the rise of tribalism dictates that I must try to make it so. I am very frightened.

The post was part attempt to entrain a state of mind. I do feel resolve. But also, a lot of fear. Wondering how I’m going to get back into a rhythm of daily living. I had expected to be able to turn away from him today. Right now? Just tired and numb. Part of me still can’t believe it.

I still can’t laugh, but this vid did make me smile. I shared it with a friend who will surely share it widely. Thank you, Mo Crow. Probably Dee, you shared it already.

Never closed….monitored the input….and by the way Clinton won the popular vote but the Electoral college counts for more and he managed to hook it. By the way, Jonothan Pie is truly vicious fun -however- in a slightly more serious vein, have a look at the post I just put up if you wouldn’t mind (I don’t discuss our stupid voting process which aught to be changed, but I do rally some forgotten facts and deal with the split issues fairly I think -the win/lose dichotomy-and there are some hopeful bits which I offer unapologetically.)
Love your black flag-reminds me of Nemo Hills black face book post yesterday with it’s streak of blue in one corner…captioned “despair”

I just commented on Graces blog. This makes the world more complicated and incalculable. And I feel a big fear about that. But we all perhaps closed our eyes to long for reality. The cover of civilisation is very thin sometimes.
I´ll hope the best for you and us all. And I wrote your words down and put them on my pinwall.

We must embrace the good, reject all evil, do whatever we can … our children and our grandchildren to the seventh generation deserve no less

My heart is not open right now…I can probe and feel the real hardness of it right now. Emotionally swinging between outright anger at the ignorance in this country of ours, and fear that I won’t be able to let my heart soften again—and I have family and friends that I am avoiding right now at all costs because I feel frozen inside. So very hard to allow compassion and love to shine through right now — So grateful for this community online.

the brexit was hard here in the UK; led by lies and deceivers. Your election blows harsh winds across the Atlantic; the rise of the right in europe is frightening. It’s hard to keep an open heart. We go on, because we must. And we treasure those who we connect with, even on this ethereal t’internet. Peace. Jan x
