Flags at half mast all this coming week as New Mexico mourns over 1,018 deaths. We have gone from being one of the most pro-active in handling the virus to an uncontrollable virus where daily totals for the past two weeks exceed 500 a day.
Among watching Halloween videos last night, I also watched will.i.am’s video, Yes We Can. Hadn’t planned on doing so but in the midst of watching British and Irish haunting, ghost, witch and things that go bump in the night stories, Obama’s words came rolling into my head: “…in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about Hope…” and as I breathe in and out, this morning, when our New Mexico skies begin their dance of color, and I think of the upcoming Dia De Los Muertos, (Day of the Dead) the honoring of ancestors, I think especially of my Father and Mother who pinned their hopes on a better life in America, found it and raised us to believe that we all matter and we all can make a difference…
At least someone is acknowledging the dead. Certainly our national government won’t. Massachusetts positivity rate is above six percent now. Really bad. Cases numbering over 1,000 a day. Getting used to the idea of making pumpkin pie for two!
