Happy to see someone else got the Pre Christmas watering of the Poinsettias WRONG. Mine are in full bud also. So no flowers for Christmas. But they are still pretty.
Our Christmas cactus bloom at Easter Halloween thanksgiving and Christmas. Not much of a plan here. They all seemed to like coming indoors.
I meant to type Christmas Cactus but you guessed right. Cactus. Your are supposed to keep them dry for a certain period of time and then start watering again and a few weeks later- flowers. But I will enjoy them here in November. I love the gold and gray house. Your color combinations are just so so lovely.
Do you overwinter geraniums?
Gorgeous photos…that top one!!! That food spread looks like a magazine cover and has me craving cauliflower! The fabrics in the bottom pic are so interesting. Will watch for more pics 🙂
I have been soooo enjoying cauliflower lately. Saw recipe last week where you sauté big slabs cut from the center of the head and then serve with creamy sauce. I made aioli. Delish! But even just tossed with a lot of cilantro and a little butter is pretty good.
We love cauliflower: In gratins, I save the end slices of bread and grate to use in the gratin, some Spanish smoked paprika in the bread crumbs as well as grated Gruyere cheese and Parmesan. OR/ just simply steamed with butter, garlic and parsley but the most insane albeit delicious recipe that I have is not all that healthy but it is so tasty. It came from a very old microwave cookbook gotten at a garage sale. The recipe is called Cauliflower Mountain: You cut most of the stem off and place the whole cauliflower in a pie plate, cover with Saran wrap and microwave for about 8-9 minutes, until a small knife easily goes through the cauliflower. Take the dish out, remove the plastic and slather the cauliflower with 1/2 cup mayo that has 1 1/2 tsp of prepared mustard, (I use Dijon) and 1/2 tsp dry mustard mixed all together. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and top the slathered cauliflower with 2 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded. Microwave for 1 minute. You get an oozing mountain of melting cauliflower lusciousness!
The Cauliflower Mountain sounds delicious. So does your gratin! I don’t use smoked paprika but your comments make me want to try.
I could practically smell that first image … and I always love seeing your cloth in the window … how this one is such a perfect little home, blowin’ in the wind
Once the leaves fall of the trees to the south, our living room gets tons more light.
Love your post – especially the patchwork houses
