Lull

So what is stopping me?

No quilts or collages are being worked on in this house.

Sure, the book launch took time and energy, the Medicare hassle, all those hip appointments, then three weeks in California knocked my rhythm back a bit, but now?

It’s weird, this lull. It’s like I’m missing a limb or something.

We are all on pins and needles in this country, waiting for this epic nightmare to — please Dear God — be over.

So maybe after that?

I can’t do anything. It is as if my creativity has been frozen in time. I cannot move forward. My fear of this election is overwhelming me. I am glad to know I am not alone.

So yesterday Rich had a Dr appt at the VA and I wore my Harris for Pres t-shirt, my Harris for Pres pin and over it, my Live Peace pin that Liz had made. Spent some time chatting with the check- in-nurse who kept looking at my clothes but only commented on the Live Peace pin. R needed blood work so I sat in the waiting room, next to a male Black Vet who smiled when I sat next to him and said, “Yes”!. We chatted a bit and commiserated that in our blue state, (New Mexico) this town we live in, (Rio Rancho) is Red.

Trump came to our town several times since 2016 and has a bill of over $200k, for services provided by the cities of Rio Rancho and Albuqerque, that as of Sept. 2024, has not been paid. On one of his visits, I spent the day smudging my house and the outside areas as well as, burning his name written on paper in my outside rock altar. But back to the positive of yesterday: speaking with Dan, the Black veteran, sure uplifted my spirits.

I’m dealing with this Lull by wearing my t-shirt every day until Nov. 5th, washing it at night every few days. because this is my ritual to keep my sanity…

It’s so interesting hearing how it is in different parts of the country. I love your simple courage, Marti. Which of course, is never simple.

I didn’t even get a sign this time and gave away the one tshirt I got because it didn’t fit, but this is such a liberal bastion it hardly matters.

I have a friend in Maine whose Harris signs keep getting stolen. So she has taken to dropping her dog’s collected poops all around the signs increasing the likelihood that one of the thieves will step in it.

    mmmm. yup.
each day I find a new reason to hope but by evening it is blasted back to “what is wrong with people”? at least wrong with *some* people.
How is it that the person or people with the most money get to decide the fate of an entire society?? really? and they are giving huge amounts of that $$$$$ to this convicted felon of a former president who has been a liar ever since anyone who has had even a spent 10 minutes near NYC since Reagan was elected? And then what about when Hitler was backed by the wealthy in the 1930’s because they thought they could control him? And they were not able to? Do current wealthy folks not know that happened, or think they are somehow smarter?

I can relate to the roller coaster. All experts say we don’t know who will win but a few also express cautious optimism. I think the polls are not tapping GenZ at all. We also know that Harris’s ground game is significantly more organized and better funded than trump’s (even with musk’s fuckery). And as I think Scaramucci said (remember him): he has to believe there are more decent people in this country than not.

Interesting about GenZ lacking in the polls. I do not pay attention to the polls, honestly.
Thanks, I do believe there are more decent people than not in this country. May they all vote, and vote for decency!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! Now the WA Post, joins the LA Times in not endorsing a candidate in this Presidential election… Have they lost their cojones as well as their integrity or are they in the pockets of MAGA?? The WA Post has totally and disrespectfully negated the slogan under their mast head, “Democracy Dies in Darkness.” One of the BS reasons given for this action from the WA Post is that they do not want to influence people but they have endorsed in other elections…what a load of crap!

LA Times has a rich new owner so that, in and of itself, is telling. Shame on both of them and any other newspaper that shucks their duty for I do see it as a duty that newspapers come out and endorse. May they all lose advertisers and subscribers; it is already happening and one of the editors quit the LA Times..

LA Times new owner from South Africa and like Musk insanely rich. Bezos of WaPost perhaps fears retribution. Remember when Trump threatened to raise postage rates specifically to harm Amazon? It sucks, this media cowardice. Watching O’Donnell rip the media a new one over tariffs again last night. Why has no one asked Trump if he knows what a tariff is and then corrected him when he gets it so abysmally wrong? It’s so basic. So astonishing that it’s not done.
