Clouds, cloth, paper

It was sunny this morning and now isn’t. 5/25/25

I found another quilt cleaning up yesterday. (I’ll admit that I carted several bins and piles of fabric to the basement just so I could in good conscience ask Ken to pick his socks up off the mudroom floor. There’s more to the story, of course, but we don’t need to get into it). I truly forgot about this one.

There’s a @threadcrumbshop moon in this one.

Also, posting this without comment, here is a Sunday insert from the NYTimes dated October 24, 2024.

My version of clouds, cloth and paper:

Clouds: Here in New Mexico, severe thunderstorm warnings and in the east, tornado warnings. I live in central New Mexico so the sky is clear and yesterday was filled with half a dozen hot air balloons that sailed over our place…I looked up at them with such longing for a ride…

Cloth: for the first time in ages, I dabbled with dyeing cloth. Dead headed my pansies, purple, cornflower blue, yellow and bundled them to a small strip of cloth dyed yellow a few years ago with Spanish broom. Plunked into my little copper pot, heart for a few minutes, then left in the pot and taken outside. Lovely imprints and soft colors with a jolt of purple befitting my mood these days.

Paper: found a small piece of cardboard, got out my huge sharpie and made my No Kings sign for June 14th. Affixed a thin apple branch, normally used for my cloth work, to the back of the cardboard and now it is ready to join my other sign of Hands Off Democracy that is outside in my huge pot containing my baby Colorado blue spruce tree.
