Maybe it’s time to view HBO’s series Watchmen again. It’s a fantasy. In that world, society treats white supremacy as a criminal enterprise endangering society, one deserving the full force of the law to eradicate. Sigh.

Asking for a one-day jail term for a cop who fired shots into Breonna Taylor’s apartment? That’s performative insult. A lot of that going around.
You know what else is performative? Trump’s request that the DOJ release Grand Jury testimony relative to Epstein. It is typically not done. That testimony generally remains secret for a whole host of reasons, not least of which is to protect witnesses. Even if after some lengthy legal wrangling a dribble emerges, it’s doubtful it’ll amount to much.

Only one small news blip got me wondering if in fact Trump might be going down for this (so far, nothing has tanked him) and that was the reporting that JD Vance met with Rupert Murdoch recently.
Hmm. (Murdoch owns the WSJ which recently published that cutesy and obscene birthday note from Trump to Epstein. I assume more is coming).
Rooting for Murdoch? Make it make sense.

I struggle with comic book adaptations but I’ll give it another try. I read that article about Vance meeting with Murdoch and son. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if somehow trump croaked – almost anything would pass for Natural Causes- and JD, with his not-so-trophy wife and brown children peeled off his Maga face and revealed…nevermind. That’s comic books for ya.
You may remember that an ICE raid was held near my home in New Mexico on June 6th. On July 7th, another ICE raid was held at a Walmart in Albuquerque, injuring the person that ICE grabbed. At the July incident, several ICE members wore masks. Our attorney general Raul Torrez and others have called for the removal of masks from ICE. From a July 15th article in Source NM : “Attorneys general across the U.S. are urging passage of legislation that seeks to generally prohibit federal immigration agents from wearing masks to conceal their identity and requiring them to show their identification and agency-identifying insignia.
The coalition of 21 attorneys general sent a letter Tuesday to members of Congress, expressing concern over escalating incidents involving masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers dressed in plainclothes and driving unmarked vehicles detaining people on streets and at homes, workplaces, and courthouses.”
Here’s my question: if you believe in your “cause” , why hide your face? Only bullies wear masks and we know that many bullies are cowards so maybe I answered my question.
I’m glad states are taking this action. I read yesterday (Sherilyn Ifill on Bluesky) that now immigration lawyers for the government are refusing to name themselves. Really bad.
