Where is the way through for this nation? I love how hard people are fighting and how so many are not giving up. I’m not giving up either. I haven’t. But increasingly there’s this pervasive heaviness, a bleak and unshakeable feeling that’s not at all personal but rather about us, the Republic.
I’m trying to notice the feeling and accept it, which is different from accepting the outrageous state of things.
And life goes on, you know? Here’s C and his Dad.
Tomorrow we’re going on the famous Boston Duck Boats, something we’ve never done before. If you’ve ever watched a Patriot’s Super Bowl Parade, you know the ones. Scheduled for Thursday: whale watch and Woodman’s in Essex for fried clams.
Yesterday I put another ten of these in the mail, bringing my all time total up to 1,417.
Temps were perfect today.

We did the Duck Boats when we were there in 2010! My big grandson was school-aged at the time and the operator invite him up to ‘drive’ the boat! He was so excited 🙂 I loved seeing all of the rubber duckies hanging in the boat…so fun to see the wide variety. We of course loved the 3 Stooges and Wizard of Oz. Have fun!
Yes life goes on and this is how we continue. If we give up, give into the rage and dismay, we are stopped in our tracks and then, evil wins…This is not to say that we give up, far from it. We send our postcards, we make our signs, we march in peaceful protest, we engage in conversations when possible, we contribute to those who keep us truthfully informed, we simply continue to live our beliefs BUT we also, for our own health and sanity, allow ourselves to take a pause (as I recently did.) In doing so, we acknowledge that we are human, that in order to continue, we need to refresh our spirits, find joy in the ordinary and then, we can go about the business of citizens of Democracy.
