Very unsettling. I lingered over the picture of C and his lady presiding over my favorite foods in the world, my Hanging Day last meal. Then I scrolled up and had to look away and breathe deep or vomit. Israel has damned itself to sit chained at the gates of hell forever smelling the shit and hearing the screams of those who are inside. Are there enough Israelis left to clean house? Are there enough Americans? You can almost feel the planet readying itself to scrub off human infestation.
I grieve, I ache, and I’m sure this was, at times, a hard post for you to put together Dee but as usual, you bring it in such a powerful way.
…Those of us who contribute to World Central Kitchen, who have watched their workers get killed, who have watched pallets of food air dropped only to be kept away from those in need and sometimes, landing on those who need the food and killing them.This week the UK,working with Jordan, will again air drop food but experts say it is an insufficient way to help (source- The Guardian).
…Those of us who do not want to see photos but our basic decency requires that we do so, that we bear witness and do what we can but this rips at our humanity. To see Mothers holding their children who are dying before their eyes. Fathers who risk their lives to seek food for their families only to return to their tents and tell their hollow-eyed children that there is no food.
…Those of us who are sick and disgusted about the person who heads the regime in this country, and is off to Scotland to play golf and choke on Haggis, playing games while the world burns.
Where are those who will stand up to Israel, to Hamas to those in power, and say, once and for all,ENOUGH- WE MUST HAVE A CEASEFIRE…

JFC is all I can say right now – and thank you, Dee. You’ve captured the crux of the matter of what it feels like trying to stay sane right now. I was so angry after reading some of the NYT headlines more on BlueSky; just folks bantering and yelling through their phones, including myself obviously. And then people quoting the washington post and generally just posting what is blatantly apparent, all over … you know! even the really good stuff from very smart very experienced and concerned humanitarians. Where are we headed? I how are any of us really making a difference? how to being to find a lifeline for our country, our society? uch, thanks for listening.
You capture so well all that noise. My only consolation about that right now is Epstein is NOT going away. Susan Glasser had a good opinion piece in the Times. I think it was she who said MAGA is being forced to choose between Trump and their years-long cultivated conspiracy and so far it looks like they’re choosing the conspiracy — which might be the only reason this scandal (and not all the other mighty ones) could be the one to bring him down.
