News has left me stunned and speechless. The relentlessness of it. The violence. The mentally disordered commentary.

As always, the California light is just spectacular.

Who knew?

Exceptional, iformative, thought provoking, connective, caring blogging indeed! Well done Dee. The photo of your son “holding up” the massive boulder says it all; says just how it feels to face each day with the news that veers into such cruel, evil, deranged scenarios that it feels as if we are in an never ending looped nightmare! But oh how the first photo in this post wraps around me like a much needed hug; the light is so warming…
No way was I watching the news last night; instead I went to Scotland and watched one of my favorite British cooks, Mary Berry, treat us to a Scottish Christmas with smoked salmon, fish pie, steak pie, chocolate mouse cake with raspberries and an old fashioned apple crumble with double cream. Mary, dressed up in many joyful jumpers aka sweaters, makeup in place, charmed, joked, decorated her food and tree, and simply showed that the good, simple joys of the season outweigh everything else, if only for a short time. Tonight I will be in the British countryside home of that cheeky lad, Jamie Oliver as he prepares food for Christmas and then I will travel to the Caribbean, to view another of my all time favorite cooking shows, The Two Fat Ladies as they prepare a Jamaican Christmas feast- I may only be traveling via my laptop but I am traveling and as Mark Twain said, “travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness”…
Smart strategies! And thank you. I love Jamie Oliver! And Merry Berry. When we get home we’ll be back to our British cop shows.
Jeez- sorry for typos! Honestly, mouse cake- should be mousse and informative not iformative, thoughts process faster than old fingers- sigh!
Not to worry!
Dee~ Ha. Where is that cool boulder? Love seeing the SoCal in your view pics 🙂
Congrats on your anniversary. That is a long time! (well I’m at 14 years…how’d that happen? lol). I have enjoyed the many years I’ve spent here with you…reading, learning, growing, laughing, growling, celebrating, mourning…and more. I’m so glad you have continued here when so much has changed in the online world. (((hugs)))
Same! That Boulder is right next to La Brea Tar Pits. It has a bar but I can’t think of it at the moment.
