Variegated Solomon’s Seal taking off in back area where I transplanted a few clumps — two years ago?
A dozen spread to a crowd! Dwarf Solomon’s Seal.
Just because something looks dead doesn’t mean it is.
The variegated iris is gonna bloom (it didn’t last year). New grasses. New succulent ground cover.
Color in the shade garden coming from annuals.
Nest feeder: sphagnum moss, cloth strips, tufts of wool roving. I’ve been watching a few robins gather nest materials for at least nine days now. This morning I found out where one of the nests is — in one of my next door neighbor’s tall cypresses.
The place where I get my garden discount (25%) has upped their spend-threshold to maintain the deal. I might have to buy a few more things. Ha! Neighbors — need anything?

Your garden must be stunningly beautiful; photos wonderful. I have a bird’s nest detritus-in -a-ceramic-thing but haven’t seen any action. I bet you have nice pickin’s for them 🙂
Isn’t it fascinating how plants like Solomon’s Seal spreads? I thought mine never would, but this year I’m finding them all over! Is the dwarf a type of Solomon’s Seal, or just a youngster? One is invading a favorite fern – where to sacrifice what? It’s a good place for a garden to be… too much good stuff!
I’ve been appreciating my garden more this spring – most because some things are actually cooperating! My iris are huge. Almost everything is a gift from one friend or another and irises are not my favorite, and these are yellow which I don’t love, but they are dramatic. The fig is getting bigger and producing. But my false We planted a redbud a dogwood as under-story trees and I wonder if that was a mistake. We have a huge oak (one the whole neighborhood hopes to outlive) and it shades most of the back yard, so… I just hope that the smaller trees are beneficial to the oak and not detrimental.

It’s nice when a garden contains gifts and cuttings from friends! The little Solomon Seals are dwarf. They don’t get much more than four inches high.

I might have said this before but working in the garden is the very best medicine. I’m so happy you love being in the garden and that you have that handsome husband there to help you load and unload all those beautiful goodie’s from the nursery. Love all the pictures!!
It is a good occupation. Time slides by, I get tired, there are results.
