Beauty abides. There is comfort in this.

Weekly protests matter even if small. I sat this one out in the coffee shop across the street.
There a friend and I talked about a journalist named Ryan Hatch and his discovery of Danny’s obituary through a CU alumnae magazine. What a sensitive response! It knocked me down, honestly.

Some of you have read it already.
One of my main takeaways is this: we do not know what our legacy will be. The fact that Danny’s life, including his love of Stephen King, moved a perfect stranger to such eloquence is amazing to me.
I hope kindness is part of my legacy. I hope my acts of generosity and sharing of insight will offset the impatience and frothing rants that punctuate my days.
Something to think about.
In closing, let me say that the Jack Smith memes on threads almost make the poisonous idiocy of this week’s hearing before the Senate worthwhile. Here are a few.

PS In one of the posts Jetpack spit up in the memory batch yesterday, there was one that referenced Danny calling to tell us (on October 4, seven years ago) that it was snowing hard in Boulder. I will forever miss these kinds of updates.

Dee, I am deeply touched by this entry! We never know how we touch/influence people. Although I didn’t know Danny in life, I am getting to know him in his transition time. It is clear he is/was a very special being.
That was special, and I’m glad you found it. ❤️
Dee~ Yes, we may never know, nor do we have much control over it before or after we are gone.
The memes are great. The counterbalance of laughter…in grief, in frustration and chaos and lunacy…is so, so needed.
…OH, and that leaf!!! I have never seen one like it!! Amazing!
Ryan’s comments on Danny’s eulogy are so sensitive. Coming across it must have been like finding a gold nugget. The Jack Smith series is a good howl. Thank you for sharing.
These last words in Ryan’s article about Danny, spoke volumes. “My life is richer because of Daniel’s life. I hope he also knew that, while sometimes the monsters do win because they’re stronger than us, it doesn’t mean we weren’t strong, too.”
Legacy does not necessarily come with trumpets and loud measures; sometimes it comes from a deep honesty to speak what is felt, to speak from a position of a very special kind of courage and strength and in so doing, touch the lives of many. This, to me, Is the true meaning of legacy, Danny’s legacy.
As a side note: political protests in my city have been quiet affairs given that this is a red city. However, to quote Bob Dylan, “Oh the times they are a-changing…” On Oct. 17th, Rio Rancho joins the rest of the nation in holding 2 No Kings rallies. These rallies are also in support of safe voting as early voting begins here on Oct. 6th.
I think the business of legacy is what I found most moving about Hatch’s words.
I had to come back because I am spitting fire!!!!
I turned on my TV because New Mexico is hosting the International Balloon Fiesta and the mass accession will be taking place in a few minutes. It is a wonderful sight to behold. The TV channel that I was watching broke for a little local news and this came on the airwaves !!! Pay close attention to the 2nd paragraph:
“President Donald Trump offered 2nd Congressional District Republican candidate Greg Cunningham his “complete and total endorsement” in a video released on Saturday.
“Hello, New America, formerly known as New Mexico. I’m asking you to get out and vote for Greg Cunningham to be your next representative for New Mexico’s Second Congressional District. Here’s my complete and total endorsement. Greg is a retired United States Marine who bravely served his country in combat, respected by everybody,”
WTF, Did you catch that “HELLO NEW AMERICA, FORMERLY KNOWN AS NEW MEXICO…how I wish a hot air balloon would swoop down and pick up this orange evil. They would not even need any fuel to cart him away as he generates enough hot air to power the city..I know an active volcano in Hawaii that would be a fitting dump off..
Omg he is so out of control. And delusional. I love that he thinks his endorsement is still a good thing.
