Jackets, Blankets, and Sheets

The Greek word moira (μοῖρα) literally means a part or portion, and by extension one’s portion in life or destiny. They [The Fates] controlled the metaphorical thread of life of every mortal from birth to death.  [Wikipedia]

With two weeks to go for The Sketchbook Project, the foot of snowfall over the weekend was a boon — I got to spend almost all of Monday down in the cellar.  I was having so much fun, it didn’t matter how cold my studio was!

Below are some images of sheets that I collected over the fall.  One of D. sleeping. Another of our laundry closet, photoshopped.

My chosen theme — JACKETS, BLANKETS AND SHEETS – also got a boost from the snow.  Blankets of snow covered the Northeast on Sunday, and so pictures of snow, Christmas napkins of snow, and Vintage Christmas cards with blankets of snow, all made their way into the book.  More of that tomorrow.

Jack has nearly disappeared while walking on the newly-cleared sidewalk!

I love your Sketchbook Project, and your theme of Jackets, Blankets, and Sheets, because it lends itself to so many variations, so many plays on words. Our house is so upside-down right now, men will be in our kitchen this coming week to redo the sink, counter, lower cupboards. But I will keep your project on a back burner in my mind and heart because it makes me want to create again, and that is a huge gift for me right now. Anything that lights a spark for me. Happy New Year!! xo Kari

Thanks, Kari — The Sketchbook is almost done… it has been a great deal of fun. I plan to color-copy the whole thing before send off (how’s that for attachment?!!!)

Good luck with the house renovations — you must be very ready to reclaim your house as your own at this point (and BTW, I think a red kitchen would be VERY nice). Hope that you get back to creating soon, b/c your recent post about the chimney (and well, passion) really reminded me of how much I miss your writing and your wit and wisdom.

Good luck with your Sketchbook Project, looks like you’ve made a great start.

Thank you for posting your sympathies for the loss of my beloved English Bull dog, my precious Zoe. It was so kind of you.

    Happy New Year Dee!!
I love the idea of the Sketch project, is that a group project?? Too bad to have to sent it away, it definitely is a keeper.
