True enough. Honestly though if I wasn’t watching the news, it just would’ve seemed a slightly early hot stretch. Harder for folks in Maine and elsewhere who are completely unaccustomed to this kind of heat and humidity.
Finn has the right idea! Funny how the book titles Jump out in that pic, especially ROOTS. This reminds me of my childhood dining room bookcases. My mom had The Idiot, a title I must have read 100+ times, but never read the book 😁
I saw the Echinacea as cloth, a la Jude. haha
The scrap happy color palette is delightful…light and cool, perfect for a heat dome. As for the Why? of the “What even is this?” cloth…um, maybe because it adds an interesting texture, which can be ‘felt’ or because even if something can’t be seen with our eyes, the story is deepened?
Here’s hoping some coolness comes, both at your place and ours.
How is the smoke? Better I hope! The heat has broken. Finn will get a full walk today. But not yet. I don’t feel like it. The stitches do add texture but when I look at comparable hours of quilting on cloth that has no pattern, it feels lost.
That is SO CRAZY; your temps!!! We didn’t even get that hot when the heat dome sat on us! ( We “felt like” factoring-in the high humidity, but the actual temps were in the low/mid 90s)
Crazy.
Scrappy Happy love it!! I’ve been working on a scrappy quilt .. maybe I’ll email you a picture of it even though it’s not finished. The temperatures sure are a changing that’s for sure. Always love seeing pictures of your garden .. so many beautiful flowers everywhere right now. I feel like Finn .. not very happy with all this heat although living so close to Lake Michigan really helps us here a lot. Sending you lots of beautiful Blessings 😘
Yet in perspective, it’s only just begun…

Yeah.
Love the scrap happy!
Lovely gardens. My astilbe struggles. Wrong plavement?m
Will it be a stripey?
I have so many “what even is this”! Lol
Happy Solstice btw.
I’m really starting to feel it’s time to watch “The Holy Grail” again. And again 🙂
The entire nation could use a dose of Monty Python! Our astilbe is finicky too. Two days that are very hot and dry and they fry to a crisp.
Stripey is the starting idea.

We get weather like this now. It really wasn’t that unusual. But early.
